Date: 17 November 2010 to 19  November 2010

Venue: Sheraton Subang Hotel and Towers, MALAYSIA

Organised by: Water Association of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (SWAn)

Conference

There is recognition that the well of sustainable development could run dry one day unless the global community takes concrete steps and makes concrete efforts in pursuing Sustainable Solutions more proactively. The 2nd Asia Pacific Regional Water Conference (APRWC) seeks long-term solutions to increase global supply of clean and safe drinking water generally and in Asia Pacific in particular for there is growing evidence that the region will be severely affected by water security. At the inaugural conference held in 2008, experts from the fields of water and wastewater industries made resolutions on sound management of water policy for sustainable water resources regionally, funding of water infrastructure, and the need to have concerted effort to restrict the consequences of global warming.

The 2nd APRWC, a biennial Conference and Exhibition organised by the Water Association of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (SWAn), will draw more water experts to cover the scientific and technical programmes that focus on water and wastewater treatment, design and operation of water systems, as well as managing and planning water services. Given that water-related issues are complex and inter-connected in nature, 2nd APRWC shall also include the health, environment and the political importance of water rights.

Distinguished speakers and water professionals are invited to share and exchange ideas on the latest developments, technology advances, novel case studies, operating experiences and problem outcomes of successful research projects, insights into application of legislation and future legislative changes in sustainable water and wastewater management

Aluminium salts are by far the most widely used coagulant in water and wastewater treatment worldwide. There is also the fear that aluminium residuals in drinking water may induce Alzheimer’s disease, and it has been also indicated to be a causative agent in neurological disease such as pre-senile dementia. Using alum as well as other metallic salt coagulants produces large sludge volumes which are also non-biodegradable.
